New Adds: January 16, 2009

Labels:

It's now 2009, and it's hard to imagine that this will be the first new add of music to the podcast for the new year! Thought i woulda had a new add the first week of the new year....but, that didn't happen. And, i do say "New" loosely - nothing really new and major til the last week of this month. Also hard to imagine. With new releases coming up from Franz Ferdinand and Hoobastank (Both of who are on the podcast) - even the WWE has a new compilation CD coming up! The first month of '09 sucks for releases....but, that'll change in February when the labels seem to return to life!

Without further Ado....here is the list of current new adds - all the stuff i've recieved in the last 2 weeks from bands and labels!

  1. Acronycal
  2. Bedouin Soundclash (Re-added because they are NOT associated with Warner Music Canada)
  3. Bo Burnham
  4. Cinema Bizarre
  5. Elise Estrada
  6. Fall Out Boy's new CD, "Folie à Deux"
  7. The Feeling
  8. Forty Foot Echo
  9. Franz Ferdinand newest CD "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand"
  10. Ghostland Observatory
  11. The Kooks
  12. Midtown
  13. This Providence
Also....there will be a review posted sometime....tomorrow (I'm hoping) - for Elise Estrada's Self-Titled CD! She's also now in the links under "Bands"....so, be sure to check her out!

Please take the short survey!

Labels:

Hey guys! It's another sleepless night right now...it being 5 after 6 in the morning...and, i'm half asleep at the keyboard, while the other half of me is high on caffeine oO

I have added a new banner to the right hand menu (after moving some stuff around)....about taking a short survey about the podcast! Here's a little info directly from the podtrac.com website for the survey that you should know about!

These free web-based surveys for your podcast have been developed and analyzed by the advertising and research professionals at Podtrac, Mediamark Inc. (MRI), and Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS). TNS is the largest custom research organization in the world, and MRI is the country's leading provider of magazine audience and multimedia research data for publishers, agencies and advertisers.

The Standard Podtrac Standard Audience Survey consists of 40 questions and takes approximately ten minutes to complete (a typical length for a research survey of this type). The Podtrac Survey offers users the option of joining the Podtrac Audience Panel. This opt-in program gives us the opportunity to ask follow-up questions about purchase profiles and podcast listening/viewing habits.

I see none of the information that you provide, nor is it sold to anybody. The only info i see is a brief summary of response's after a certain amount of people take it.

So, please take the survey! I only have 2 response's from it so far! lol.

Pentagon War Against the Internet

Labels: ,

I found this on infowars.com - click that link to go to the full story! I found this very interesting to say the least. Interesting, yet screwed up. I'm not gonna post the full story...but, bits and pieces of it. If ya want the full story, click on the link. The reason i'm not gonna post the full story is because this also deserves my two cents.

As far as the Pentagon is concerned the internet is not all bad, after all, it was the Department of Defense through DARPA that gave us the internet in the first place. The internet is useful not only as a business tool but also is excellent for monitoring and tracking users, acclimatizing people to a virtual world, and developing detailed psychological profiles of every user, among many other Pentagon positives. But, one problem with the current internet is the potential for the dissemination of ideas and information not consistent with US government themes and messages, commonly known as free speech. Naturally, since the plan was to completely dominate the “infosphere,” the internet would have to be adjusted or replaced with an upgraded and even more Pentagon friendly successor.

A renowned Russian author, Dmitry Glukhovsky, told Russia Today the internet may very well be in decline. “Glukhovsky predicted that the network would become clogged with traffic and may grind to a halt in the near future,” writes Steve Watson. “We have previously warned that the rumors of the internet’s decline have been much exaggerated and used as a pretext for calls to designate of a new form of the internet known as Internet 2.”

This “clean slate” and “appropriate content” agenda dovetails with the objectives of the Pentagon as it “fights the net” and strives to disseminate “good stories,” that is to say counter the research of “well-informed online writers” with pro-government propaganda.

Now, my 2 cents. I cannot believe that the U.S. Government wants to go down THIS bloody road! All to do what, exactly? To have the FCC filter and regulate the internet...just like it does to TV and Radio? What the hell is next? You're gonna start breathing for us? Or, is it gonna be like that episode of family guy where the FCC moves in and regulates them. Talk about trying to make everyone robots - and, having us think alike!

I thought that was the point of the internet. I thought that was the point of blogs, and personal websites...and, not just facebook, myspace, twitter....etc. I thought the point of the internet was to have many different points of views - and, many different places to not only get news, but also, a way to meet people who share your points of views - or, at least people you can have debates with.

Now, the government wants to try and control thoughts - and, ideas. Who the FUCK in their right bloody mind thought "Hey! I know! Let's censor this shit, and stop people who have opinions!"

At first, i thought maybe the guy - or, girl - who opted this to the pentagon - was more concerned about what their kids might be reading. But, ya get further into the story....and, it's not that at all! To basically put the "Good" sites on the "fast internet" - and, the "Junk" pages that they deem "BAD" - get tossed basically into what they call the "junkyard". Wow....i never woulda thought the internet would be divided just like a horrid city - the good live in 1 area, the bad live in the poor, tattered shit-hole.

Ya know - Ok, i can understand it in 1 fuckin sense of this - and, ONLY 1! That 1 area where i can understand them filtering content is terrorist shit. Anything terrorist related, sure. If someone's talking about bombing something, or blowing shit up...by all means! That doesn't necessarily mean taking it off the internet...it just means...maybe you should possibly keep that person off the internet.

Think about it this way....if they're gonna filter the internet...think what that means. Torrents are gonna go away. And, i'm not just talking the "Illegal" ones - i'm talking LEGAL torrents...the torrents these small companies or independent bands release. You can prob'ly say goodbye to internet radio stations as we know it - not to mention podcasts like mine with "Explicit" content. Basically, anything - or, anybody with a different fuckin opinion than the FCC or Pentagon has....goes in the junkyard.

Now, i'm thankful that i live in Canada...because, as far as i know - the government here isn't thinking about this kind of shit. We actually have more important things to worry about. Granted, i can say a LOT about Steven Harper (Who i used to be on sides with...but, not so much anymore.) But, i can say if the Canadian government is actually gonna start contemplating this...i'm gonna go ape shit, and do something drastic....like, moving outta this damn country!

Last thing i'll say - it's 1 thing for the U.S. to start contemplating going into a North American Union - but, when the fuck did American's wake up in...Asia. Yea...if ya didn't know, some parts of Asia put blocks and filters on Websites that they deem "inappropriate". I didn't know 1 day it would come to this.

Leave your comments on this story! I wanna hear your thoughts on this - go read the full story if ya want to as well, and then leave a comment! I know how i feel - now, it's your turn :)

t.A.T.u. Releases Happy Smiles

Labels:

t.A.T.u. Is back with their highly anticipated new CD, "Happy Smiles" - Which has been released, and can be found in stores everywhere - on and offline. You can pick it up from Amazon if ya can't find it anywhere...and, you can do so by clicking Here

I got my hands on a copy of it today...and, this is my review of it! This mark's t.A.T.u's first english AND Russian language CD. It's a nice mix! It's new and different in all the aspects, and is a nice kind of 'throwback' to 200 KM/h in the wrong lane. It's got a nice edge of electonic and pop in there - and, at times, i thought i was listening to Rammstein.

A few of the songs on the album remind me of some of the songs on 200 KM/h. "Chelovechki" reminds me of "All the things she said" mixed in with "Not gonna get us", While "Running Blind" seems to remind me of a couple of songs from Dangerous And Moving.

Overall though - there's not much new that t.A.T.u. can do - but, they do push the boundaries for themselves, showing not only have they mastered the English side of things, but, how they do it in Russia as well.

This was a risk for t.A.T.u. in my opinion - because, certain people could care less about the russian language - let alone any foreing language other than...English. But, for me...the russian language is one of the "Sexiest" - other than french beating it. Nonetheless - the album has all the aspects you've come to expect from t.A.T.u. The electronic fussion between pop and rock - and, some really edgy tracks! Not just all the "Love" crap...which is good. Not to say that it's not there though.

After 3 years of not seeing nothing from them - they're back, and better than ever! The only thing i hated about this CD was 1 "song" - and, that's only because it was an instrumental - and, that's way down in the tracklist at #8.

If i wrote about the "Highlights" of this album - it could honestly go on and on...and, i know you won't wanna read all that. The downsides of the album are few and far between...i do think they coulda pushed their single "White Robe" up on the tracklisting a little further, rather than it being the very last song on the CD. However, i do understand that there's a "Feel" to this album, and you don't wanna screw it up. The instrumental tracks (The intro and #8) - were good...not mind blowing...but, good. It was nice to see that a band could actually get away with opening a CD with an Intro track.

The feel for this album is nicely laid out as well. The tracks are in perfect order, and has an awesome feel to it. People might be tempted to get this CD and put it on "Shuffle" mode to listen to it - DON'T DO IT! lol. I can never understand how people can do that to 1 CD...even if it's new or not. It screws up the feel for the album, people! There's a reason why bands and producers put them in the order they show up! Ya screw with that, ya lose the feeling!

My Rating:
