Podcast Feed FIXED!

Labels:

YAY!!! It took me a little over an hour to fix...but, i'm happy to announce that the Feed IS working again! Nothing like just a simple character that screwed it up lol.

Remember guys...if you're doing a podcast - try not to include the (&) character in a feed.

hahaha

I feel so stupid now! I should've known that before hand. But, noooo....the tiredness had to cut in earlier and screw me up!

So - everything should be working properly now! You should be able to update the feed for the new show - episode 114. I want to apologize for the stupid error on my part, and it shouldn't happen again - trust me, that's gonna haunt me now for awhile oO

Podcast feed error

Labels:

Apparently, there's something wrong with my feed! It seems to play in the player on here alright - but, when ya go to view it on Feedburner - it's all blank, except for the name of the podcast. Even on my server with the feed - it does the same thing!

There's something wrong when ya go to view it, and this is what ya end up getting:

you can click the image if ya wanna see it full size!

Keep in mind that this DOES NOT seem to affect the podtrac player on the website....just the feed if you're updating with a podcatcher, such as iTunes. I've gone in to try and fix it...and, it works if i remove episode 114. Hmmm....weirdddd

CRTC approves obituary channel

Labels:

Further proof that the CRTC will approve just about anything.

Gérald Dominique is hoping there's room on Canadian airwaves for yet another specialty channel – one that would be all death and illness, all the time.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has for the first time approved an application to move forward with a channel dedicated to paid obituaries and notices of illness.

The French-language channel, which would air in Quebec, amounts to a TV version of the paid death notice pages in newspapers, giving families the chance to have sound, music, photos, video, text and other testimonials broadcast about their loved ones.

Mr. Dominique, 44, the Quebec entrepreneur behind the plan, first applied for the channel last summer and hopes to title it Je me souviens, or “I remember.” The phrase is also the official Quebec motto.

“The goal of this channel is to tell stories,” Mr. Dominique said. “How many stories are lost all over the world each year? Great stories about people's lives. Those are the stories we hope to tell.”

Mr. Dominique believes some 56,000 Quebeckers die each year. With baby boomers aging, he thinks that death – and the services that go with it – is something of an industry on the rise, inadequately served by existing tribute and memorial services.

“I felt the need to do more,” he said.

He said the TV death notices will cost about the same as they do in newspapers, and hopes one day to extend the service in English to the rest of Canada. The concept may also include longer-form obituaries – features done on public figures and aired at no charge to their families – as well as the paid classifieds.

Although offering the chance for multimedia memorials, Mr. Dominique anticipates the majority of notices will be text only, displayed on screen and read aloud.

“The service would be dedicated to the broadcast of obituary notices, notices of hospitalization and messages of thanks and prayers, mainly in alphanumeric format, that would be read on air,” the CRTC approval notice reads.

After being granted CRTC approval on Feb. 26, Mr. Dominique now hopes to find a financial backer, and sign a deal with a cable distributor before a launch.

“I would need some help,” Mr. Dominique said. “But if the planets align, I should be on the air in July.”

In addition to paid notices, Mr. Dominique got CRTC permission to run six minutes of national advertising in each hour, although he'd asked to run local and regional ads.

The concept of a 24-hour channel devoted to death and illness notices first came from Europe. Etos TV launched last year in Germany, offering TV and Web-based death notice services, and was billed as the first station of its kind.

According to European media, it cost about the equivalent of about $16-million to launch, backed by a group of German funeral directors.

But Canada's directors have no part in Mr. Dominique's initiative. Suzanne Scott, executive director of the Funeral Service Association of Canada, said her group has discussed backing a single website devoted to online memorials – of which dozens operate independently – but never a TV station.

“It's going to be interesting to see whether it does have legs, because I don't foresee people sitting there everyday and watching,” Ms. Scott said. “But to have it on television, are you going to say: ‘Watch Channel 247 at 4:57 p.m.?' I don't know.

“I'm not sure it's something people in Canada are going to jump on, but I could be completely wrong.”

With a report from The Canadian Press

Eisbrecher Added!

Labels:

Wow - am i getting good or what?!?! 20 odd hours up now, and i'm listening to some new adds from Metropolis! Either that....or, i'm hooked beyond anything that anybody could ever grasp. Not like that's a bad thing though....noooo....trust me, i have no social life anyways :)

But, i didn't have to listen to the full CD for me to know i'd love the hell out of these guys! If you like/love Rammstein - wait until this weekend's show when they get unleashed! These guys have a more electroRock/Goth thing goin' on...i wouldn't even know where to begin classifying them. All the better for me. I'll let you guys fight over what they sound like - just post some comments here! But - i can't believe i didn't hear of these guys sooner! They've been HUGE in Germany for quite some time - and, since 2004, they have gone on to release 3 CDs! Their new one being "Sünde", which was released in 2008 in Germany....and, to others....i dunno the exact date!

What i do know however is that the Limited Deluxe Edition will be released in Canada and the U.S on....Yesterday....oO....geeze, i'm so far behind the times! lol. The Limited Deluxe edition comes with 2 bonus remixe's (1 of Alkohol and the other being Kann Denn Liebe Suende Sein?)

They are AWESOME! So - check 'em out! And, make sure ya tune into the podcast this Saturday (March 14) if ya can't get enough!

Here's a little bit of info about the guys behind the magic.

The band's name in translation from German means "Icebreaker". The band's lyrics and slogans often include terms of ice and sailing, such as "Ahoi" (Ahoy) and "Es wird kalt" (It's getting cold). The band's frontman, Alexx Wesselsky, often wears naval and military clothing in performances.

After leaving Megaherz due to creative differences in 2003, Alexx Wesselsky got together with Noel Pix, who composed the synths and programming for Megaherz's albums Himmelfahrt and Kopfschuss.

While the debut album, Eisbrecher, released in early 2004, (featuring a song also named Eisbrecher), had more of an electronic sound, its next release, Antikörper, released in October 2006, had a far heavier, metallic style. However, the band remains true to its roots, and the similarity between albums is not entirely unrecognizable, ensuring the group's identity remains firmly attached to the industrial metal genre. The first 5000 copies of the debut Cd included a blank CD along with permission for purchases to legally copy the music onto the blank. This was done as a protest against what the band felt was a "criminalization" of fans.

A single, "Kann denn Liebe Sünde Sein," from Eisbrecher's as-then-unreleased third album was released on July 18, 2008 in Germany and reached 3rd place on the German Alternative charts. The album Sünde was released on August 22,2008 in Germany and debuted on the German top 20 album charts at the 18th position. The band has performed at (Summer Breeze Open Air,M'era luna & Zita Rock) Festivals. In 2009 the band will perform at the (Amphi festival,Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Castle Rock) festivals

Do ya need further proof on why Toxic TuneZ is #1 now?

Metropolis Records is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based record label, distributor, and mail-order store specializing in the post-industrial field such as electro-industrial, synthpop, futurepop, darkwave, and gothic musical genres.

Metropolis started business as a retail record store under the name of "Digital Underground." The first few records released under the Metropolis label were actually European imports that were repackaged and released specifically for the US market, with Love Is Colder Than Death's Teignmouth being the label's first official release (MET001). Metropolis began signing acts as a record label in 1995, with groups such as Mentallo and the Fixer, Numb, and Front Line Assembly. It has arranged for its bands to tour together such as Numb and Front Line Assembly together in 1996, and Project Pitchfork and Front 242 in 1998. It also established extensive distribution channels to a variety of commercial channels, providing access to major commercial markets for typically niche-interest groups. By the late 1990s it had become the dominant specialty record label in North America for electro-industrial. Several groups once signed on Wax Trax! Records later released on Metropolis, including Front Line Assembly, Front 242, KMFDM, Doubting Thomas, PIG, Noise Unit and VNV Nation.

In 1999, Metropolis Records purchased a few other electro-industrial and goth focused music labels, including Pendragon Records and 21st Circuitry.

Record labels distributed through Metropolis include A Different Drum, Alfa Matrix, Cleopatra, Nilaihah, KMFDM, Projekt, Sigsaly Transmissions, Strange Ways, DSBP, Vampture, and WTII.

Tweet Tweet....maybe? lol

Labels:

Everyone knows what this bird represents. Kind of like if i added the facebook or MySpace logo for that matter. I hate to admit it - but, i'm seriously contemplating entering the world of Tweeting. This comes for many reasons.

First off....it would eliminate the posts of what's new on the blog...sort of. It would basically eliminate the pointless entries where one might say "Why the HELL did ya just write an entry about that?" 140 characters does the job, and does it...sort of well.

Not to worry guys - the tweets would just be short updates. About...what i'm doing for the podcast on a particular day - as well as tweets about new adds. The longer news entries, playlist entries and random stuff will still stay. Basically - if it makes sense to do a post, it'll be here.

I'm still contemplating it though - and, would appreciate some feedback...cause, i still have no idea how i'm gonna use it if i do use it oO

ALSO - on that note....i'm thinking of doing the same thing over at facebook....mind ya, i do have a group over there. But, my thinking is to eliminate that, and enter the "Brave new world" of Pages. So, instead....people can become FANS. Does my logic make sense at....6:20am? lol.

I have all these thoughts running through my head - it feels like a damn 8 lane highway in there - with the horns and semi's goin' off!

OHHHHH YEAAAAAHHHHH! (Here's proof how fast my thought process is right now on the Dr. Pepper lol) *Insert blatent advertisement here*

Toxic TuneZ is gonna be featured on the local news station sometime prob'ly next week. Dunno all the details yet. But...yea, it took me by surprise. Got an email from this guy, Mike last Thursday, and i got it Sunday (No thanks to Shaw, of course.) But, he wants to do a feature on me and the podcast! And....like i'm really gonna be an ass who turns that down! So, hopefully with that....the local fan base here in Medicine Hat will increase. And, not only that, but draw some attention to the local bands and artists here who wanna get some focus on them! And...for them...the door is always open....I don't care what kind of genre they are! I say that from my heart - because, though parts of this city....lack...to say the least....the one thing that's been constant is the music scene.

It's because of the local scene as well that i love almost all genres of music. Hell - i used to go to the Jazz fest in Medicine Hat before i went and got....Anti-social....lmao. I swear, the Podcast and various other things....don't give me much time. Even though it started 2 years ago, it still seems like i'm trying to get it off the ground again.

Maybe that's because of all the changes i do with the music lol. But, hopefully the changes are done and made - and, yeaaaaa.

Lastly - before i forget. Yesterday....Well....Monday...whatever. It's not Wednesday til i wake up! Anyways, yesterday, i contacted one of the labels that represents the likes of The Birthday Massacre - Metropolis Records. If they say Yes (Which i'm hoping for) - to help me out with giving me more artists to play....I'll "Secure" so-to-speak....a bit of the Dark/Goth/Metal scene. I've been checking out a few of their artists...and, i LOVE the sound of what's goin' on there. So....let's hope and...do something....that they say yes :)

Anyways - that's it for me for tonight! I will let ya guys know about the situation with Metropolis....hopefully tomorrow!

FINE!

Later TODAY!

Better?

lol

Show and Tell

Labels: ,

The title really doesn't say much...does it? It's been almost a year since The Birthday Massacre released their last EP - Looking Glass. I'm pleased to announce that they are back! They announced this on their myspace earlier - so, for those of you who haven't had the chance to see...or hear - the news.....here it is!

This is the OFFICIAL press release of what's to come! If you want more info, go to their website at either: thebirthdaymassacre.com

"Since the release of ‘Walking With Strangers’, in September of 2007, The Birthday Massacre have been touring constantly in Europe and North America. While they were touring Germany shortly after it’s release, they played a gig at Knust (a club in Hamburg Germany that holds about 500 people). It just so happened that we gave permission for Crazy Clip, (a local video producer) to record and film the performance. Originally there were only supposed to be 2 or 3 clips aired locally. The project lay dormant for the next 18 months while the band continued touring and then began work on their follow up to Walking With Strangers which is scheduled for release this coming fall.

Beginning in December of last year Rainbow and Falcore started going through the video and audio recordings from that Hamburg show and decided that although it wasn't planned for a "live" record, there was an intimate, small-club feel to the whole project that they liked. And so, they set about editing and mixing the tracks to form the CD, ‘Show and Tell', which will be released May 6th. No bells and whistles, no shimmering sleights of hand or studio tricks; just a hard working band on the stage of a small club doing what they do best. This is not a polished record and that is a good thing. For all of those fans who have had to suffer through the phone recordings of some of their favorite songs, this recording will deliver all of the excitement along with the fidelity!

The DVD of this concert will follow in a few months. The editing of the video and the 5.1 mix are going to make that project more time consuming undertaking.

Drawn from their extensive repertoire, each song is intensified by the bands raw and energetic live performance. This collection will add another dimension to their already sizeable reputation. In addition to being essential listening for current fans of the band, this album is also a great introduction to the music of ‘The Birthday Massacre’ for those who have yet to check them out."

The European release of "Show and Tell" will be May 8th via Repo Records...And also to iTunes worldwide.

Also - 19 tour dates have been announced! If you want more info, you can go to their myspace @ www.myspace.com/thebirthdaymassacre

From Dawson's Creek to Medicine Hat

Labels:

Once in awhile, i come across a story i find interesting...and, post it as an entry on this blog. This time was no different. It involves a new movie that will be in theatres soon, called One Week Starring fellow Canadian, Joshua Jackson. Here's the story.

This comes from The Globe And Mail. Thanks goes to Johanna Schneller for writing the awesome story - and, further proof on why people should read the newspaper's once in awhile...go ahead, get some culture lol :)

Joshua Jackson and Michael McGowan, respectively the star and writer-director of the new film One Week, cannot believe how many Canadians have accused their movie of being "too Canadian."

Yes, it's a travelogue: Jackson's character Ben, a high-school teacher, reacts to a grim medical diagnosis by riding a vintage Norton motorcycle from Toronto to Tofino, B.C. And yes, Tim Hortons, Gord Downie, the Stanley Cup and Canadian Tire all make appearances. But Jackson and McGowan don't see why that's a bad thing.

"It's frustrating sometimes that we as Canadians don't want to crow about ourselves," Jackson said during a Toronto publicity stop. A Vancouver native who hit the big time opposite Michelle Williams and Katie Holmes on the TV series Dawson's Creek (1998-2003), he's 30 years old now, taller than you'd think (6 foot 2) and handsomer than when he played Pacey, the yearning high-schooler.

"We define ourselves in negatives rather than positives, and mostly what we want to be is Not American. And part of the American personality is being completely willing to stand up and say, 'I did this.' But it's okay for Canadians to be truly proud and awed by their own country."

McGowan (who also wrote and directed 2004's Saint Ralph) agreed. "We're not trying to hit people over the head with the maple leaf; we're just trying to get at a zeitgeist," he said. "The things we sort of gather around as a nation - the junior hockey championships, or the way the 'I Am Canadian' beer ads touched on patriotism - I don't think we've celebrated in cinema. If Ben is going to drink a coffee, why not Tim Hortons? We could have set it from New York to Seattle, but it would be a different film."

Lucky for them, Canada co-operated. With a bare-bones crew in a bus, a truck and a minivan - which McGowan drove, one eye on the road and the other scanning for locations - "we just took the trip and stopped when it looked nice," he said. "If we'd had a million or even $10,000 more dollars, we wouldn't have been able to do that. We'd have had transport managers, and they'd have said, 'We need to know exactly where you're going to be, you can't just pull over onto the side of the Trans-Canada Highway and shoot for 20 minutes.' " When they needed rain, it rained; when they needed a beat-up pickup to smash Ben's motorcycle, they found one; and when they needed a ranch near Medicine Hat that would provide lunch for the crew, horses for the actors to ride and a stunning view, they found that, too.

Jackson thinks McGowan's "guerrilla filmmaking" suited Ben's story. "Ben is opening his eyes to life, really for the first time," Jackson said. "The bad news has shaken him out of his stupor, made him realize that he hasn't made a real choice in a long time. We all find ourselves there at some point: You're treading water and all of a sudden five years go by and you're like, 'How did I get here?' "

For Jackson, that point was when Dawson's Creek wrapped. "When I went into that show I was 19 years old; when I came out I was 25," he said. "There was a lot of growing up I'd held off doing because I'd had an all-consuming, 14-hour-a-day, 9-month-a-year job. All of a sudden I had to start figuring out who I wanted to be as a man, what I wanted in my life, even whether or not I wanted to be an actor." Starring opposite Patrick Stewart in the play A Life in the Theatre in London in 2005 reminded Jackson "what it was that I actually liked about this job." He laughed. He's currently living in New York, and back on TV in the sci-fi drama Fringe.

"The kids' lives on Dawson's Creek were intense; it was tears and sadness and gnashing of teeth. I spent six years in a state of high angst," he said. "Fringe is much less emotionally taxing, and I'm a sci-fi geek, so I'm finding it really enjoyable."

Falling in love with the actress Diane Kruger (National Treasure) perked life up, too. They first met five years ago, "but she was with somebody else, much to my chagrin," Jackson said. "But we've been dating for 2 ½ years now, and I'm much happier when I'm with her than when I'm not."

Though Kruger lives in Paris, they try to stick to a two-week visiting schedule. "When you're in love, commuting isn't a chore," Jackson said. "Though I kind of have to reintroduce myself to her at the beginning of every visit. After a couple of hours, it's like she recognizes my smell and everything's okay." Thankfully, they're both travel fiends, "both at the high, movie-star level and low backpacking level," Jackson said, reeling off a list of places they've travelled together: Germany, Monaco, Morocco, Dubai, Australia, Tuscany, Britain, Japan. "Life is good," he said, smiling. "I have no complaints."

There is one destination Jackson hadn't appreciated before One Week: the Canadian Prairies. "Coming from mountains and forests, I never understood what the draw would be," he said. "But it's astoundingly, astoundingly beautiful. And the scale of it is impossible. I'd been to Montana and Big Sky Country, but I've never been in as vast an expanse as Manitoba. It literally rolls to the horizon lines in four directions, with no sense of perspective. You are this little speck in a giant plateau.

"Canadians live in a physically humbling country," he continued. "We don't have a Florida panhandle. There is no '35 degrees in the middle of winter' weather. You have to have respect. People have compared One Week to Into the Wild, but I always had a problem with that book, because at the centre of that story is a lack of respect for nature, which is why the protagonist died. Bully for you that you think you're man enough to conquer the Alaskan wilderness. But you're not. You're a little naked monkey in the middle of the [expletive] Arctic, man, you're going to die."

He cackled, then went on, "This is where the American personality comes to hurt Americans and the Canadian personality keeps us alive. I know Americans love to give us shit for being so respectful, the please and sorry people. But we have an ingrained respect for our environment that plays itself out in the way we deal with our open spaces. We believe it's part of our shared heritage, all this beauty out there in our country."

Hey Monday, Damone, Flyleaf

Labels:

Newly added podcast music - more than 3 bands, trust me...let's get on with it and introduce you to the bands that have been newly added this week!

Hey Monday is an American alternative rock band from West Palm Beach, Florida, United States. The band consists of Cassadee Pope (lead vocals), Michael "Jersey" Moriarty (bass guitar), Mike Gentile (lead guitar), Alex Lipshaw (rhythm guitar), Elliot James (drums) and Bobby Nolan (Keyboard)

Their debut album Hold on Tight was released worldwide on October 7th, 2008 via Decaydance and Columbia Records. Their 1st single off the album "Homecoming" was featured on the CitizensFOB mix-tape Welcome To The New Administration. Lead singer Cassadee was also featured in the song "Take My Hand" by The Cab on the mixtape. Cassadee also made an appearance in Fall Out Boy's video "America's Suitehearts"

Hey Monday will also be performing in the Believers Never Die (Part Deux) tour through April and May of 2009, touring with Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship, All Time Low, and Metro Station. The band was recently added to the lineup of the 2009 Bamboozle show in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Flyleaf is an alternative rock band, formed in the Belton and Temple, Texas regions in 2000. They performed around the United States in 2003 until releasing their eponymous debut album, Flyleaf, in 2005. The album went platinum after selling more than one million copies. The band won an online poll on yahoo.com and was named Yahoo!'s Who's Next band of the month in March 2006 and they were named MTV's artist of the week on December 24, 2007.

All five members of the band are of the Christian faith. This faith influences their music, but lead singer Lacey Mosley doesn't necessarily believe that makes Flyleaf strictly a Christian band. "We all share the same faith. And so when we deal with the whole 'Christian band thing,' we kind of think about something P.O.D. says, like, 'If you're a Christian, it affects everything in your life. So if you're a plumber, does that make you a Christian plumber?' "

Mosley said. "I don't know the answer. We're a band, it's part of who we are, so it comes out in our music, and it's the fuel for what we do. And finding faith saved my life. So I'm not ashamed of it at all. And most of our album reflects that.

Flyleaf is currently taking a break from touring and are working on their upcoming sophomore album. They are in the process of recording and expect to be done by March or April 2009. The new album is expected to have 12 songs, which will be selected out of the 30 already written. Some of these songs, such as "Again" and "Have We Lost" have been performed live but have never been recorded in a studio. They may appear on the album. Newspapers to Expire?

Labels:

WHeeeeEEEE! oO

Don't ask me why i'm doing a completely random post. I honestly wouldn't know how to answer that one! Yet, I am - so, what better way to amuse myself than to take you all down with me in the boredom ship.

I know, i'm soooo nice! you don't have to thank me.

I'm sitting here, having a smoke - drinking...well, guzzling - my Diet Dr. Pepper, listening to music that i've still gotta decide on for the podcast. Tons of fun. I just finished eating, and watching episodes #142 and #143 of Real Time with Bill Maher. Oh yea, and #140 lol. I've had cable again for 2 weeks, and am loving the Video on Demand. Gotta love how Canada now has HBO - so, that combined with Shaw on Demand is really cool! If i miss an episode of 1 of my shows...it's normally on there in a couple of days. I've also fell in love with a new show - In Treatment. Maybe cause i've been shrinked a few times myself...and, the whole psychology behind it and the show is...kind of captivating to watch.

And, from last week's Real Time....i heard something interesting. It turns out that a newspaper in California....San Francisco to be exact - is about ready to "expire" in print form...and, most likely on the internet too.

I'm on a weird side of the fence. I'm a blogger by heart. Granted, i'm probably not entertaining at it...i'm not captivating. Most of my stuff for this blog comes from elsewhere. If it's Canadian...or, Entertainment, it can be found on here. So, that begs the question of...if a few of these newspapers die....what the hell's gonna happen?

Well, 1 of the guests so nicely pointed out that the internet will boom in this culture now. Yea, for the past 10 or 15 years, you've seen the internet really gain popularity in the news and blog side of things. Seems like everywhere ya look, there's someone with a blog ready to give you his...or her...2 cents about something. While some are extraordinary at what they do, and what they write - there's people like me who just....for the lack of a better word...suck lol. We're not captivating...and, don't have much of an audience. And, when we do post news...it comes from some other site, and i just add my 2 cents in....whether that be opinion or not.

So - what's gonna happen when all these newspapers die off? Well - that'll be good for the environment....cause, i swear these newspapers - most of them - are as good as the TONS of phone books we get in the mail. Not to mention all the junk mail. So, yea...it'll cut down on paper and waste. But...the thing i think that's gonna happen now is that these "inexperienced" bloggers....or, what have you - are gonna have to start "Freelancing" people now. That may or may not be such a bad thing.

Granted....news for the better part of when that happens will take a massive....dump. It'll just seem to get crappier and crappier for a few months. But, i think after a few months or so....that people will get "Smart" and "Better" at blogging....paid or not....and, start producing better quality news. Why? Because of the Audience Factor. Which basically means that to hold an attention span of common people, and to keep them coming back - you HAVE to start producing better stuff.

For me....this is kind of an upside. Hell, every blogger for that matter. Bloggers who actually care to get better - and, want to write better. Instead of having posts like....this one....where it's just completely random. Why's it gonna be an upside though? Well....think about it this way.

I'll use my group of bloggers for an example - Podcasters. We normally post blogs about episodes. Sometimes we'll get random and post obscure things. Sometimes we post opinions - and, we want your feedback. And, in my case....i also do reviews for CD's...as well as new additions to the podcast. How i look at it is IF we get to the point where all these newspapers slowly die off...it kind of does some good. Because, this way....us normal people can maybe take this and make this a business model.

Who knows.

But, until that day comes...it gives all of us bloggers a chance to "Hone" on our skills. Did i spell that right? lol. Did i even make any damn sense? oO

Quietdrive Added!

Labels:

QuietDrive
Quietdrive is a pop punk band based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota that formed in 2002. Quietdrive released their debut album When All That's Left Is You on May 30, 2006 on Epic Records. As of April 2008, Quietdrive has parted with Epic Records and released their newest album, titled Deliverance, on October 14, 2008 with the Militia Group.

Quietdrive initially built a following at THE GARAGE youth center in Burnsville, Minnesota.
The band pursued music venues in Minneapolis but found better connection with younger crowds and stayed between suburban and city clubs. The local scene following eventually led to the Twin Cities performance of Van’s Warped Tour in 2004. Afterward, an A&R scout for Epic Records (a label under Sony BMG) began contacting the band in June 2004. Though the band had been pulling in two different directions, the members came into agreement with the record company and signed to the Epic label later in December. This year (2008) they performed at the Schwans USA CUP in Blaine, MN.

After the CD release into 2007, the band had a lengthy US tour and was featured in January 2007 as the "Artist of the Month" on Xbox Live. Quietdrive with producers Kirkwold and Harley released a new single entitled "Pretend" on their AbsolutePunk.net page in early 2007 for fans. Though the band garnered success with Epic, in April of 2008 they cancelled their contract with Epic Records partly citing the restricting management of the major music industry.

Quietdrive released their second full-length album Deliverance on October 14, 2008

The current line-up of the band is:
  • Kevin Truckenmiller: vocals/Acoustic Guitar/Violin Bass
  • Matt Kirby: Guitar/vocals
  • Justin Bonhiver: Guitar
  • Droo Hastings: Bass
  • Brandon Lanier: drums

Chat Room, Changes and Submissions

Labels: ,

HAHA! And they said it couldn't be done! Mind ya, rather crapily - but, it still does the trick!

Over in the menu, you'll see that 2 things have changed. Well...3. The Digsby widget is gone, there's a new blogged rating thing (Which, by the way, you can use!)...and, there's now a new menu called "Podcast". Under this new menu, there's a few new things! Let's cover them

The chat room is powered by meebo. And, i will almost always be in the room on days of the podcast (Saturday's) as well as infrequently throughout other times. I'm not gonna give away the name i'll be using, or God knows, i'll have imposters lol. But, you'll know it's me when i'm in there! Don't Be Afraid To USE IT!!! That's what it's there for! So, even if i'm not in there - use it anyways! It's better than the digsby widget in some ways, while it sucks in others lol.

Next thing to be added is a Submit Music Feature. This is a simple form for bands and artists to use to let me know about their stuff! Since MySpace sucks now when it comes to messaging bands to tell them about my site, and to try and get them airplay...i've took it into my own hands again, and created this. It's pretty Straight forward on how to fill it out, and what the questions are.

Last thing to be added is a link called Podcast Changes this is only gonna be used for what it has right now - a message to bands (And fans) on what kind of music is now allowed on the podcast, and what's not. Anything you see there prob'ly won't change - as that's what a blog is for!

All of the links in the "Podcast" menu will open up in new tabs...or, new windows. Depending on what browser you use...and, what your settings are. This way, you never have to leave the blog!

New Sound is Here - and, Episode 114 Tomorrow!

Labels: ,

Don't ask why i decided to add an alien to the post this time....talk about boredom! Just another fast update for ya guys about the "new sound" of the podcast.

I have gone through round 1 of removing artists and bands. I'm not surprised that i didn't remove that much stuff. What i removed was just a few of the bands that don't quite fit the whole Rock/Pop/Hip-Hop way of things. Trust me...you won't know the difference, as most of what i removed wasn't getting airplay anyways.

However - i did keep the bands that i have established myself with. Bands like The Paperbacks, Mobile, Hayden, The Hospital Bombers and Basia Bulat have all stayed. I did remove a few of the Rap artists that didn't quite fit - not many! Apathy was the only one i removed there. Lastly - country has been removed from the podcast as well. It might make a comeback....but, i haven't had "positive feedback" about country music. If this changes, you'll be the first people to know!

Oh yea...and, i forgot! Classic Canadian rock has also been removed. So, you will not hear anymore Loverboy, April Wine or any more of the like.

The only other thing is that i have decided to remove some of the other bands that have a well established connection with Radio. Mainly Fall Out Boy, Saliva and...ummm....i can't remember! Though, everything that has survived this round will stay put for now....unless you guys have anything to say about it!

The next episode, Show 113 will be up tomorrow - i'm hoping! And, instead of just Goth...i'm also throwing in some Hard Rock, Industrial and Metal! It's gonna be an awesome show - i promise!

Episode 114 will go on as planned - this Saturday. You'll notice the sound of the podcast has changed for the better - and, it will be more...kickass now!

***EDIT*** : haha...i'm so messed up! I meant episode 113 in the title oO
I won't change it now, or google and all of the other search engines won't index it properly. So...yeaaaa.

New Podcast Direction...???

Labels: ,

Hey there guys (And Gals) - i just wanted to throw in a quick update, and also to make my first blog post of March! Is it just me, or does this year seem to be going by quickly again? It seems like February didn't exist! 28 days just zoomed right on by.

Anyways, just a quick update! I know i promised that Episode 113 would be released on the weekend - along with episode 112. Little did i know that night, that i would end up going to a friends place with my brother, and drinkin' with them. Now, ya want to talk about "drama" - let's just say i know why i don't drink vodka that much anymore lol. I'll drink it if that's all that's there, but, i tend to stay away from it. I made so much of an ass of myself that night - all in the name of trying to hook my bro up with this chick!

That's all i'll say on that one :)

Episode 113 however should be up either sometime later tonight - or, tomorrow. I'm in the midst of making the playlist, and it should be one of the better shows from me since...a long time. It's gonna be an all Gothic show! So, everything in the Gothic and Gothic metal will be featured. You can expect to hear bands like Kittie, Lacuna Coil, The Birthday Massacre, Eyes Set To Kill, Dyonisis, Crystal Sunshine - and TONS more! I'm also gonna try not to talk that much!

I bet you're wondering why all of a sudden that i'm gonna do a Gothic show. It's quite simple, really. I came across a poker player named Jennifer "Jennicide" Leigh. I haven't had the oportunity to see her live game or anything on TV - because, she hasn't really made the "Mainstream" yet. She's been in a few televised tournaments - 1 for the Game Show Network in a "Battle of the ages" in 2005 or 2006. And, then 1 for the WPT.

I did however, come across her website (Wikipedia comes in really handy at times lol) - and, saw that she's got a music thing of what's she's got on her iPod - just a taste of it. To say the least, it "Rekindled" my love for all things Gothic! And, i thought to myself...what better way to show my love than a podcast episode dedicated to it!

This will be the first of many dedicated Genre shows to come in the next month. Think of it like this - you guys are my test subjects. To see what works on the podcast, and what ultimately doesn't. I'm contemplating a move to the Rock and Pop aspect this year. So, anything that doesn't fit in the Rock and Pop genres will be removed from the podcast.

You guys of course always have a say in the matter! Feel free to comment and have your say on what you love about the podcast - and, what ya could care less for. Your voice CAN and WILL be heard!
